F5: NGFR+
- Full Name
- Schwann-like fibroblast (NGFR+)
- SynonymsTerms that have the same, or nearly the same, meaning as the selected cell type.
- unknown
- CategoryClass of which the cell type is a subclass.
- skin fibroblastCL:0002620
- Rationale
- F5: Schwann-like fibroblasts were named as they expressed Schwann cell-markers, including SCN7A and ITGA6. Fibroblasts are known to be located in the endoneurium and perineurium,(Richard et al. 2014) and nerve-associated fibroblasts (ITGA6+EBF2+) have previously
been described in skin and lung using scRNA- seq data.(Fiskin et al. 2023; Madissoon et al. 2022) To confirm a distinction to Schwann cells, we showed that Schwann cells and F5 fibroblasts clustered separately and clear gene expression differences were evident between these two populations.
