In addition to the myofibroblast gene signature (e.g. ACTA2, ASPN, SUL1, COL8A1, LRRC15), F7: Myofibroblast fascia-like had high expression of fascial fibroblast genes (DPP4, ITGA10, ACAN, and CCN3) .
F7: Myofibroblast fascia-like were largely observed in Dupuyten’s contracture, a fibrotic disorder of palmar fascia. However, F7: Myofibroblast fascia-like were also observed in the non-fascial diseases, most notably keloid scarring and basal cell carcinoma. Supportive of the validity of this finding, CCN3 (an F_Fascia and F7 fibroblast marker gene) has been validated at the protein level in human keloid skin in groundbreaking work implicating fascial fibroblasts in scarring.(Correa-Gallegos et al. 2019)
