Rationale

JCHAIN (joining chain) is a component of polymeric immunoglobulins and is highly expressed in antibody-secreting cells. MZB1 (marginal zone B and B1 cell-specific protein) is an endoplasmic reticulum protein involved in immunoglobulin secretion, enriched in plasmablasts and plasma cells. Together these markers identify antibody-secreting plasma cells and distinguish them from naive and memory B cell populations.
