MRC1 (CD206) and F13A1 are general macrophage markers broadly expressed across tissue-resident macrophage populations. CCL3L1, TNF (tumor necrosis factor), and CXCL3 show enriched expression in inflammatory macrophages, reflecting a pro-inflammatory activation state rather than a fixed macrophage subset identity. Together these markers identify a transcriptionally distinct inflammatory macrophage population and distinguish them from resident macrophage subpopulations such as LAMs and PVMs.
