Enterocyte Progenitors
Full Name
- enterocyte progenitor cell
Synonyms
Terms that have the same, or nearly the same, meaning as the selected cell type.- absorptive progenitor, absorptive TA
Category
Class of which the cell type is a subclass.- enterocyteCL:0000584
Ontology Assessment
Disagreements with any aspect of the Cell Ontology.- No specific CL term for enterocyte progenitors - we separate these from early enterocytes to provide more resolution on epithelial subtypes
Marker Gene Evidence
Gene markers used by researcher to assign this cell annotation.- OLFM4, ADH1C, REG1A, LCN2
Rationale
- These sit between the TA compartment and early enterocytes, with OLFM4, ADH1C, REG1A and LCN2 still up alongside a bit of leftover proliferation like PCNA and HELLS, and a lot of them are ribosomal-high which makes them hard to pull cleanly apart from cycling TA and early enterocytes so we annotate them as absorptive progenitors where the absorptive markers were coming up but maturation hadn't really kicked in yet.

- Set of Labels Description
- Cell annotations based on two rounds of subclustering with scVI integration, sample_id as batch key. Cell annotations were refined by expert feedback based on "prelim annotation" on CAP. Prelim annotation is renamed "hgca_celltype_v0" here and the feedback on the "prelim annotation" is available by selecting a previous version of the Integrated Human Gut Atlas on CAP.
