Marker Gene Evidence
Gene markers used by researcher to assign this cell annotation.- ENTPD2, SFRP5
Rationale
- This label is used for type I glia associated with the submucosal plexus, distinguished by expression of ENTPD2, SFRP5 and a core glial program and by their co-clustering with other submucosal plexus markers in integrated data. They are present across several datasets but enriched in samples with preserved submucosa, consistent with a submucosal plexus localization. The glial subtypes performed poorly in reference mapping benchmarks, so a lesser resolution is likely best for the data currently. Annotation experts also point to less confidence in glial subtypes
